Do It Yourself Storage Sheds Kits…And Save!

Storage Sheds Kits

Hi My Name is Art.

4 Options For Choosing a Storage Shed Kit.

I’m a Journeyman Carpenter and I’ve built many Storage Sheds Kits using Precut or Prefab kits as well as constructed many Sheds from scratch. Over the past few years the labor cost to hire a carpenter to build a shed has skyrocketed. Add this to the extra cost for fuel and materials, not to mention zoning bylaws and you could spend $1000′s. So what’s the alternative to the high cost?

The best answer to that question is having some type of guide or plan…Which will allow you to save by building the shed yourself. The problem is finding some plans that you can actually understand. I was amazed at all the garbage that you can buy online. On several occasions I have had friends or neighbors buy some Storage Sheds Kits plans only to have them call me and ask what they need to do.

Isn’t the whole idea when buying some plans, is to be able to do it yourself? Anyways I went to their rescue only to discover that the plans they had bought were useless. What I mean is…I’m a Journeyman Carpenter and I had no idea what these so called plans were talking about…So how can the average backyard do it yourselfer built using useless plans?

In my opinion and experiences you have 4 choices

Building Your Own Shed LinkThe first Choice is to built the shed yourself without any plans…This can save you $100′s in costs or can cost you a lot more. If you have the knowledge and skills to build your shed as well as some basic tools, this can be the choice for you. You’ll also need to know how to estimate the materials needed…and some basic carpentry skills.

The only problem is if you’re not really sure on how to lay out  critical components like the floor joists and wall studs so the sheeting will fit…You’re going to end up having to buy more materials than you need, just to fix the mistakes. Have you been in a lumberyard lately? You’ll be surprised at the cost of lumber, plywood, nails etc…Just 1 sheet of 5/8 tongue and grove plywood can cost about $25 dollars.

And what about looks? Can you picture what your Storage Shed is going to look like? What kind of foundation do you need? Should it be treated lumber? How many bundles of roof shingles do you need? These are questions you’ll need answers to before you even start building. Do you see what I’m getting at? A good Storage Shed Plan will cost you less than $50 dollars. Two or more mistakes can cost you that and more!

The second choice is build it yourself with some plans…

This is the choice I recommend! Having a good set of shed plans will eliminate the guess work.  Along with all the step-by-step instructions you’ll need is a complete materials list and sizes and measurements to cut the lumber to. The plans begin at the foundation, then take you through floor framing, wall framing, and roof framing.

You’ll also know how many bundles of shingles you’ll need…And very important the ruff opening sizes to frame for doors, windows, and other vital  information. One bonus you’ll get is good photo’s…As they say a picture is worth a 1000 words. Your plans will also show you how to layout the floor joists and wall studs so the sheeting will fit without needing to cut every piece!

Before setting up my Website I spend some time on the Internet researching and reading reviews….Looking for some eBooks that are giving correct information and that you can actually build your storage shed with. I’ve also put the best Storage Sheds Kits that you can buy from Amazon in the right side sidebar.

I’ve found 2 eBooks that I would buy…

1). If your wanting a top notch well designed shed plan My First choice is Ryan Henderson’s “My Shed Plans Elite” You get complete shed plans from start to finish that anyone can understand…You also get access to his awesome Woodworking Course. Cost is $37 Dollars.

2). If you’re looking for plans on building sheds and over 16,000 Woodworking projects…My choice is Ted Woody Mcgrath “Teds Woodworking” Winner of readers choice award 2009…Cost is $67 Dollars.

Both of these products can be purchased from Clickbank and can be downloaded anytime 24 hours a day…7 days a week. They both come with Iron Clad 60 Day 100% Risk-Free Money Back Guarantee.

The third choice …Is Precut or Prefab storage sheds kits… These are complete kits that you purchase and put together yourself.

The Precut kit…Is a kit that has all the pieces you’ll need to build your shed precut. All the pieces like floor joists…wall studs…roof rafters are all ready cut to the required lengths.

The Prefab Kit…Is kit that has the pieces pre-assembled for you. All the main pieces like floor…walls…roofing are already assembled. You just put them together. I would recommend if you’re going to choose one of these kits to chose the precut storage shed kits. The reason is the prefab kits components can be heavy and awkward to assemble…Whereas the precut kit is small pieces that you can put together easier.

The fourth choice…Is a complete prebuilt shed…Are what you would call a shelter in a box. usually used s a garage for your car…They are the perfect solution for some fast…Portable outdoor storage solutions. You can also get smaller 1 piece vinyl or metal Storage sheds. These smaller sheds offer light weight and very portable…Durable and are made of 100% plastic materials that never need to be painted and insects don’t eat!

Some other important things to know about storage sheds kits is…Unless it’s stated as part of the package you’ll need a foundation kit of some sort and these foundation kits and anchoring kits can add another $100.00 or more to you cost.

If your building a large storage shed it would be a better idea to have a concrete foundation or a treated wood foundation that will give you years of service.
